My boyfriend was scheduled 7pm-7am on the time change and that’s what he had to work. Sometimes people get sent home a little early but usually you just work it and suck it up I always got paid the amount of hours (in time) I worked, not based on the amount of hours the clock said I worked. I really don’t understand why it’s not like that everywhere. You work 7 hours in spring and 9 hours in fall but get paid for 8 regardless. When I worked nights at Walmart they scheduled me to work on Fall Back night, and I got in their faces about scheduling me on Spring Ahead night because that was the only way to get my unpaid hour back. Nothing. You still get paid the same and work the same number of hours but that extra hour gets pushed into your off time. Standard practice in Alberta business and industry

A night shift usually ends at 07:15 at our company. Split that hour with dayshift. We were working night from 6to6 but dayshift came out at 5:30.(offshore drilling) When I worked overnights in the surgical wing at the hospital, you just watch. That’s it. You see the clock set itself back an hour at 1 AM and realize you’re fucked and stuck for another hour rather than moving onto 2AM. When I used to work at a bar we would close up shop and go get wasted at the places that stayed open the extra hour. It was fucking awesome! I work nights with special needs’ people. You work that extra hour and you get paid for that hour. Same for when we move the clock forward – 1hr shorter shift and hr less pay. When I worked at the club we just worked the extra hour.. but i guess it depends what job your working, probably all varies I had to work an extra hour. I’m salary so no extra pay and I just had to deal with working a 9 hour shift. It really sucked when we thought the clock already rolled back but we were wrong and then we saw it change back. I used to be a nurse’s aide in a nursing home in the US and occasionally worked the third shift (11pm-7am). If it was a fall back clock change, you worked an hour more but still got paid for it; so for an 8 hour shift, you’d work 9 and get paid for 9. If the clocks went forward, you worked an hour less but still were paid for that lost time; so for an 8 hour shift you’d work 7 and get paid for 8.
