I get in the Your Name Custome Shirt But I will love this passing lane to pass. I pull back into the right lane once I’ve passed all the slower vehicles & there is enough space between us for me to safely pull back. Sometimes a hot headed young gun will zoom up behind me during my time in the passing lane and started flashing his lights at me, apparently in the belief that I should pull over whether or not it’s safe, because he can’t stand being inconvenienced for even a second. If that’s you, cool your jets, I’m pulling back over in just a moment. I will also occasionally pull into the passing lane to make space for someone on the on ramp. I only do this when the left lane is empty. If you never do this, you are an asshole. I am mystified by the number of drivers who think it’s perfectly fine to just stay in the right lane even when there is no one in the left lane and they could easily move over.

As long as I’m passing folks, I’ll stay in the Your Name Custome Shirt But I will love this left lane. I may not be passing as fast as someone behind me wants to go, but as long as I’m passing, I consider it ok to stay there. I never drive under the speed limit. I’m usually a bit over it and hover around the overall prevailing speed, not the outlier speedsters or the poky folks. Once I get past, I move over and let the speeding folks pass. (I’m already up to 5 over the speed limit, they’re usually doing 10 or more over) In my part of the US, there are interstates with only 2 lanes each way, but the right lane has entrances and exits so frequently, that if you get into it, you get trapped. IOW, those roads often have too much volume for the number of lanes. No one wants to be in the right lane until they absolutely have to exit, then they’ll do the “fight” to move over.
