My old doctor kept insisting that I might be pregnant even tho I am a lesbian and only once have had straight sex many many years ago. He all knew this. My PCP suggested I was cursed! I guess he had such a reputation that when I mentioned this to a random nurse years later, she guessed his name correctly! When I was 15 the dr said: “Ha, you’re not depressed you’re just tired.” I lost all respect for doctors at that moment. Took me decades to build up respect and it is only because the doctors I have seen since value my self advocacy. I was r@ped years ago. Never had any support or anything despite reporting it and letting the doctor know at the time so I could get std check etc. Just got on with things and rode out all the lows. I finally reached out to a doctor last year as I was going through a really bad time, borderline suïcidal. I was advised to do yoga. I was in such disbelief that I laughed about it. Like, seriously?! That’s when I realised I truly am on my own with this and the only one who can help me is myself. So back to Plan A, just getting on with it. “Please stop screaming, youre scaring the children” while at the time, i was still a child and scared af too :/ Pain chest and breathing difficulty, three students were examining me for their training purpose. I agreed, why not. A few hours later. The result was pain is from anxiety. I told them that is not possible. I have a nice life, work and balance and no worries at all. I was waiting for the real doc to come. He finally appeared 2 sec later he looked at the xray and said that it is pneumonia. I was so relieved. Gave me some strong antibiotics and two weeks later I was ok.
