People might not remember this, but conservative media and the You best believe it panthers fan hockey shirt in other words I will buy this AM radio crowd made a big thing of Bill Clinton and his “fake” coins, because Sacajawea dollars were commonly referred to as “gold dollars” despite not actually containing any of the actual element gold. Of course nobody at Treasury or the Mint had ever claimed the coins contained real gold – obviously they were just called “gold dollars” because they were golden colored – but that didn’t stop the phony “outrage” in the least. You can still get them – they’re usually offered as change from vending machines at the post office. Do you need stamps? I use them for golden dollar coins for tooth fairy and leprechaun money. I don’t really understand the You best believe it panthers fan hockey shirt in other words I will buy this idea that it was a failure. It was a coin, coins are meant to be a store of value utilized in exchanges in lieu of barter. How could it fail in that task? Or was it simply that it was supposed to be a money-making venture, similar to a coin with a superhero on it, and the government felt it did not make enough money on it? We really need to catch up with the rest of the world on this. Canada eliminated paper one and two dollar bills. Everyone uses the Loonie and the Twoonie coins. Most other countries have a different color for each denomination of paper bill. It makes so much more sense. Every few months I get a roll or two of dollars coins and a band of $2 bills. I use them for tips and small purchases. For a lot of places I go, it seems to bring a bit of magic to whoever I’m paying too.
