Honestly if I didn’t keep up with Reddit, Twitter, and TikTok, I wouldn’t understand a thing people are saying anymore. Just yesterday I had a client of mine yesterday say “You have that rizz!” in conversation. I was prepped and knew that meant “charisma” to these young’uns from seeing it on TikTok. I get violent cringe nostalgia when I’m watching something from the Yes i am old but i saw Merle Haggard on stage play guitar shirt in other words I will buy this 90s and a character says “bla bla bla… NOT!” As one of these kids, they are speaking nonsense, im 17 so i know the current middle and high school slang, ad most of the college slang cause of a few friends i have that are there right now Or he didn’t hit the breaks and did 80 into a wall when he dropped the N word. He was speeding into a brick wall maybe. Or just speeding in general and didn’t even slow down to think before saying the N word. That’s actually how I took it. But was more so making a point in my comment about slang overall. Dude im 26 and i work in a middle school/highschool. Im less than 10 years older than some of these kids. My youngest sister is 11 years younger than me. Im closer in age to some of these kids than my own sibling. I still have NO fuckin clue what they’re saying half the time. Its just mostly regurgitated idiot-dribble from tiktok. America is fucked for many reasons, and the lack of education/positive role models who can hold an intelligent conversation for a whole 60 seconds is a big one. I know i’d sound preachy and pretentious if i wasn’t right “How sir, have you advanced in age to the point of almost becoming an octogenarian whilst having never engaged in coitus with a clergywoman.”

I mean you can use your powers of deduction to come to a general conclusion about most slang.. it’s really not that big of a deal, but this is most definitely just nonsense. Probably a quote from a song or something, trying to be funny. Followed by get his ass fired. This isn’t really “slang”, though. This is a pretty distinct evolution of language in Black American communities. Poor education, disenfranchised people, they just develop communication differently. It’s not like adding a “bro” here or there, or “frfr” shorthand. It’s a whole other branch of English. Call it Ebonics if you want, it’s pretty appropriate, even if it carries negative connotations. It might be jarring to read if you aren’t familiar, but the Yes i am old but i saw Merle Haggard on stage play guitar shirt in other words I will buy this idea that language doesn’t have room for deviation is a pretty baseless one. “Oh no! How can you be speeding toward disaster like this, and not think to slow down? Think before you speak! This gentleman should lose his employment!”
