I’m going to get some reflective tape for my back window. Assholes. Easiest way to spot an inconsiderate asshole. LED headlights should be illegal. Sure, you can see, but no one else on the road can. Tailgating is either complacency (lack of self awareness) or compulsion (lack of self control). Both fall under the category of incompetence. How do you minimize the potential damage of incompetence? Slow down. Easy peasy. 5 miles an hour under the speed limit will force the compulsive ones to go around. And it’ll minimizethe damage caused by the complacent ones. Often times the complacent ones suddenly become self aware when they realize they’re going 5mph under. Well the simple trick in these situation is to move one lane right and let them get ahead…. Then move one lane left and turn on your high beams… Hopefully they have learned a lesson… If your car is inadequate to pass them the enlightening lesson, accept the state of being and drive peacefully to your destination letting them bother someone else who is in front of them… People that catch you on a freeway to just sit behind you are psychopaths… I have taken to letting off the gas little by little to see how slow they are willing to go before doing something. I have gotten from 10 over the limit to almost 20 under this is my experience driving to and from work on the highways all the time. also so many ppl just drive with fog lights on as well?? so annoying, esp when it’s also hitting the side mirrors and i have to sit off-kilter to not get blinded or turn my side mirrors out a bit which also sucks cuz mine are manual

Adjust your side mirrors to reflect back to them. Window tint helps. Also consider getting some yellow “blue blocker” driving glasses. Federal regulations on headlights are coming, but they probably won’t go into effect before 2030. I recently had my ophthalmologist make me a pair of prescription yellow tinted antiglare driving glasses for night. Best thing ever. Makes all the bright white into warm yellow lights without the darkness of sunglasses. I can look directly at those oncoming brights without problems. Just slow down. Like not stomp on the breaks or completely take your foot off slowing down, but just start to gradually slow down. They’l either get annoyed and go around you, or they’ll be stuck behind you and have to deal with it unless they want to do something stupid. Also, if they get aggressive with the driving, well any damage they cause is their fault for tailgating you.
