Your friend has a Budget too and needs to feed the Wyatt Johnston Canadian professional ice hockey centre who plays for the Dallas Stars T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this self. If you were paying her enough all year, she wouldn’t need a Christmas bonus to survive. Stop trying to make yourself feel better than others. Oh yeah, you won’t do that because you want to make an obvious spectacle so your cleaner is indebted to you Heaven forbid someone makes a different financial decision than you and doesn’t allow you to make it for them! The horror! Same thing – we used to have this foreign worker come in and mow our lawn every month and then and my grandma used to pay him 10 bucks. And quick forward to the pandemic where we did our own manual mowing (read SHEARS). After the pandemic is lifted and my parents went back to their routines and we decided we need the mower guy to come back and help. My grandma insisted to pay him the usual 10 bucks and I was flabbergasted. Now everytime he comes around I just fight to pay for the mower guy 20-30 bucks.

As someone who has also had cleaners for 40+ years it is most certainly normal to pay extra for Christmas, literally a Christmas bonus, cheap assholes. Just your typical generational bullshit….you pay them whatever extra you’d like. Good on you for not being a stingy asshole for ONE day out the Wyatt Johnston Canadian professional ice hockey centre who plays for the Dallas Stars T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this entire calendar year. The fundraiser is to much. You doing this now only for yourself and not for your cleaner. Better ask the cleaner beforehand. He doesn’t have to pay double for xmas. It doesn’t make him a prick. You can pay double for him too if you want. Then tell your friend from me a little gratis goes a long way in a world of people who couldn’t give less of a fuck about the struggles of others. It’s extremely normal to tip your house cleaner at Christmas in the US, but we have a really established tipping culture. (It basically amounts to paying them double at Christmas, but we call it a Christmas tip.) Start a fundraiser to make up for his lack of 15€? Or to be extra generous? Who is going to contribute? Just the other roomies? Always shocks me how people treat their support team. We pay a bonus (usually 150% of their weekly pay) at Christmas. We’ve never had a cleaner quit on us.
