In the Windham Rotunda 36th anniversary 1987 2023 Bray Wyatt thank you for the memories signature shirt it is in the first place but old testament there are several examples of genocide, be it the Canaanites or the Amalekites who god ordered their entire bloodline to be killed. Or those in Noahs day, what of the children, and not to mention most people weren’t even the problem, god killed them because they were simply living their lives and enjoying it, they committed no sin. Not to mention gods targeting of the innocent Egyptian firstborns, while the Pharoh sinned by killing the Hebrew children the idea that god would return that upon the Egyptian children and not solely those responsible was reprehensible. Job was forced to lose everything just for god to prove a point. And god sent bears to kill children for mocking his prophet, and I’m not even covering most of it. God treats his people like tools in the old testament and punishes them with death and suffering if they choose to disobey, none of it is compulsory, and none of it shows evidence of a loving god.

And then all this in the old testament of “eye for eye” and then jesus completely flips the doctrine 180 degrees and says “Turn the other cheek” now, god is perfect, so you can establish that god’s doctrine and what he desires of his people is fluid and changes with the times. However this idea is not at all conveyed by many modern churches, especially puritans, who overlook Jesus’s message of love and acceptance, even of sinners like prostitutes.
