Second time was last year and I was looking forward to it hoping to get something interesting this time and actually having to give a verdict then a couple of days before I was informed that I was no longer needed. Twice now I’ve not had to actually do anything, probably won’t get called up a third time as even twice is more than most people. Do you have access to any assisted listening devices? Eg Roger Table mics, Oticon Connect clip or Roger ON? They would help massively with hearing in court rooms and round tables with lots of people even with dodgy hearing aids. I know from personal experience that although courts say they have loop systems and infrared systems installed they are usually shite. I am deaf and have a whole whack of stuff to help me hear at a distance. Happy to give you more info if it would help. I used to as a kid have some phonicear stuff – it wasn’t that helpful at the What Day Is Today Who Cares I’m Retired Fishing Sunset T-Shirt besides I will buy this time. Unfortunately/fortunately (I’m never sure which really) I was brought up to see it as a minor inconvenience which it was really till the pandemic, and even now I have to remind my own dad why I can’t hear him properly!

Oh I know that feeling! The pandemic was an absolute nightmare for anyone who is D/deaf. It completly stripped me of my independence in one fatal swoop. I also have to do the What Day Is Today Who Cares I’m Retired Fishing Sunset T-Shirt besides I will buy this whole “ if I can’t see you I can’t hear you” statement with my family sometimes and it’s wearisome! If you are in work I’d look at Access to work as that’s where I’ve got all my kit from. Total and utter life changer and genuinely one avenue of government services that works! They may be able to support you for jury service too. Got called up. Was in the lull between lockdowns and had to go in to the court and sit 3 seats away from others jury members. They did the search process we were wales into a waiting area all masked and separated made to turn off phones etc sign all paper work get the safety videos and told to wait. Any time someone would look their phone someone would bark at that to put it away or face a contempt of court charge.
