Oh I don’t mind people asking for suggestions at all and I’m always curious to hear how people are going to spend their time, I’m just a little taken aback when people actively expect me to research where they can find a particular brand in a vintage clothing shop. I don’t want to give the Vintage School Custodian Clear The Trail Learning Back To School Janitor T-Shirt In addition,I will do this impression that I’m standoffish. I just feel like some people are going to demand as much of your time as you’ll give them with no built-in stop mechanism. Oh yeah that’s crazy. I’m more of a “any good restaurants to check out within walking distance” Kindof guy. Maybe any lesser known attractions to check out. That Kindof thing. That seems like way too much lol I have only been to 2 Airbnbs. One in the states and one in another country. Both had binders with a welcome page and random questions and answers. Also, a page or 2 about interesting things to see, favorite places to eat, and local shopping areas and attractions. Also, info about how to work the TV, internet, hot tub/ pool as well as leaving procedures. That was perfect because we didn’t have to bother the host. As a host, I offer to make recommendations or answer questions if they need something, but generally leave the guests alone. They get a welcome message and a check out reminder. That’s it. Beyond that I only speak to guests if they initiate contact. I don’t want to be bothered on my vacation, so I’m not going to bother guests.

Its one thing to ask about a favorite restaurant nearby and quite another to ask your host to rent you bicycles. I’ll ask my host for favorites but I’ve never treated them like a concierge. Oh yeah, I agree. I guess I just assumed they meant restaurant suggestions and stuff. Didn’t even occur to me people would be asking for that Kindof stuff. But I guess it doesn’t surprise me, unfortunately. I love giving recommendations for my area. It not only helps guests to have a great trip; it helps local small businesses. I can’t tell you how many times my husband has had to draw maps for guests because they won’t use the Vintage School Custodian Clear The Trail Learning Back To School Janitor T-Shirt But I will love this guidebook and GPS. There is a place I have stayed a number of times, auto check in with a lock box. Never talked to the host for the first three or four stays, on the fifth stay he happened to be there doing some work and saw me come out and came over an introduced himself, and we went our separate ways. Fast forward, three or four most stays, same deal, hello, hello, let me know know you need anything, goodbye. Obviously, if I have stayed there 10 plus times I have no need to contact him, haha, and like you, I like it that way. If I can go, unlock the door do what I need to do and never ever ever speak to someone. That is heaven. I just hope they ignore the freshly dug holes in the garden….. Same… During a stay last month, the host texted me to tell me he was out of town and I would find the key to our room in our door, and just to make sure to leave all the exterior doors to the home unlocked so the other guests could get in and out. Best stay ever. I’m 9/10 on never meeting my hosts even when we lived in the same house (I was in the remodeled attached garage and he was in the house. I stayed there for over a month and never once saw him).
