Istanbul, the Vintage Retro Jim Leatherman’s T-Shirt in other words I will buy this walls of Constantinople is still standing, you can even go on top of a section as it’s attached to a museum. I was in awe because represented the final days of the Roman empire They did not say that Istanbul the city itself is not in any guides, they’re talking specifically about the Walls of Constantinople. Pretty sure they’re talking about the old city walls. They’re dilapidated in parts but still impressive, and it’s possible to walk on top in certain areas afaik. Well, If you think of destinations “within and outside of the US” i can recommend a couple where I’ve been myself too. Palmyra Syria, an ancient city along the Silk Road, monumental architecture and cultural significance. but due to conflicts in Syria, it has unfortunately become less accessible for US citizens. Bodie, California, A ghost town for a glimpse into the California Gold Rush. Preserved but abandoned buildings and artifacts has a great vibe. Kolmanskop, Namibia, A former diamond mining town in the Namib Desert being reclaimed by the desert sands, but a beautiful landscape. Ani Turkey, Known as the “City of 1001 Churches,” a medieval city on the trade routes between Europe and Asia. Today, it stands in ruins, but its impressive architectural is what I like.

Once known as the “Paris of the Middle East” before Israel bombed the hell out of it in the 1970s. The city has never fully recovered to its past glory. Phnom Penh. Before the Khmer Rouge took power, this city was the “Pearl of Asia” and the hub of culture and modern rock music in SE Asia. The city has started modernizing, but it will never recapture its former glory.
