Yes, there are crazy people who are scared of socialism, but most Americans actually support socialized healthcare. As of 2020, that’s 63%. It may seem like a low number, but I’d argue it’s pretty high when you consider where the Aaron Wiggins American professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder T-Shirt In addition,I will do this republican party is at right now. The other consideration is that despite what you read on reddit, 92% of Americans are insured. This is a bit of a give-or-take thing since it’s “at some point in time”, but just keep in mind that most Americans have health insurance. There are gaps and issues with the system, and healthcare can still be expensive, but the majority of people are not paying insane piles of cash to get care. I just had a minor back injury the other day, and paid like $30 for urgent care. To add to this, people who are very poor, and everyone age 65 already gets socialized healthcare in the US through programs like medicare. Keep in mind that the people in this 65+ group are the largest voter block in the US.

It’s working especially well for the people who tend to be the most politically active. I think it comes down to that more than “fear of socialism”. That sounds great until you realize that even after Americans pay the highest taxes towards healthcare in the world, and an utterly insane amount for insurance, massive numbers still can’t afford needed care. Large shares of insured working-age adults surveyed said it was very or somewhat difficult to afford their health care: 43 percent of those with employer coverage, 57 percent with marketplace or individual-market plans, 45 percent with Medicaid, and 51 and percent with Medicare.
