Not that foreigners were rare on TV back in 2013 but these days there’s more of a general familiarity with foreigners, I guess. It used to be that any foreigner with enough time and determination could at least get on some stupid variety show but now you’ve gotta be fluent and have some sort of angle to make it. Sam hammington got on TV because he spoke, just enough, korean. Even with zero charm or personality. Now every foreign student is almost fluent and TV is stuffed full of no name foriegners, i couldnt even count them. I agree, people are less friendly. In this forum I see warnings all the Veterans With Warren shirt so you should to go to store and get this time that Koreans don’t approach strangers in public unless they’re cult recruiters. It wasn’t that way before, and changed about a decade ago (maybe 2012 when Shincheonji operated Mannam?). I think Korea is still a relatively high trust society since I never have to lock my bike or worry about my stuff getting stolen if I use the bathroom in a cafe or something. Other general aspects of friendliness have maybe gotten worse but the most beneficial ways still hold.

Veterans With Warren shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

Oh, I suspect that one is the Veterans With Warren shirt so you should to go to store and get this next to go. Five years from now, new kids on r/korea will be saying you’d have to be crazy to leave your laptop unattended in a cafe. Back in 2012 there was a positive energy in the air. Everyone felt like things were good and getting better. Young people were excited about the future. These days there is a palpable pessimism in the air. Everyone sounds and looks depressed about the future. People under 40 love Apple products now. Back in 2012 you never saw a Macbook and very few people used iPhones. Everything was Samsung or LG. People were even borderline nationalistic about how great every Samsung product was. Today it seems 90% of 20-somethings have iPhones and half of my uni students use Macbooks instead of windows laptops. Children are much fatter. It’s shocking. Kids used to eat kimbab as a snack after school. Now they eat gummi bears and other junk food.
