It tends to be that people try to “find a middle way” on super clear cut issues. One side wants equal rights, the Venezuelan Christmas Gift Venezuela Flag Santa Shirt but in fact I love this other wants genocide, and some people take the “middle way” philosophy and apply it there. Centrism accomplishes very little, and has also been pulled far to the right in the US, since our left isn’t very far left. Most centrists are closeted conservatives. That’s why a lot of centrists are looked down on even if some aren’t. Lastly, centrism has an unfortunate implication at its core. One side wants to do genocide, one side doesn’t want to be killed, lets meet somewhere in the middle though, one side gets to kill half, and half of one side gets to live. Thats an extreme example, but a very clear one. You can’t entertain both sides when one side is utterly deplorable. People can have beliefs that don’t neatly match a particular “group”, meaning you can have trans allies who believe capitalism is the best thing ever. But people who are sitting on the fence on a bunch of different issues in a “just listen to both sides”, at least to me, usually seem like they’re either
