Oh wow. So you’re saying the Utah NCAA Men’s Basketball 2023 2024 Post Season Shirt Besides,I will do this horse lovers were right about the 2 years thing, and what happened to her was basically human stupidity? Stupidity and greed. It’s still common practice. Racing is not about what’s best for the horses. It’s about how much money they can win, and how much those wins make them worth. There’s a whole season of races just for two year olds. They need to start earning their keep. Imagine saying that the Daytona 500 must be run despite there being a hurricane, because a delay would disappoint the fans and would surely cost everyone a bunch of money…or at least cut into profits. Ruffian was before my time, but I fell in love with her when I read her book in school & it broke my heart. I’ve loved horses and hated racing ever since.

In the US most racehorses start training before they actually turn 2. For all horses Jan. 1 is their “birthday”. So two foals, one born in January and one born in June both are considered a year old the next Jan. 1. I had a similar thing happen in the 2008 Kentucky Derby with Eight Belles. I was also around 12 years old and my family had always watched all of the Triple Crown races on TV every year, but watching her get put down after fracturing BOTH of her ankles was just too much for all of us. Oh my you brought back a memory for me. For me it was a Santa Anita Derby. I can’t remember the year (had to have been some time in the ’80s) but I believe there were at least three accidents that day. I think I was 10 years old or so and I don’t remember crying in front of a TV that much. My parents loved racing and had such fond memories going to the races. It’s taking me a long time to just even follow it in a cursory manner.
