Yup – but it took me YEARS to figure that out. Like, I didn’t clue in until I was 40 (even though I went non contact when I was 18 but that was mostly because he was trying to force his religion on me which is a different story). My parents never won at making me wait until I finished my food because I would just out wait them. So then they used to put the Usher Super Bowl Half Time Show 2024 Shirt in other words I will buy this food in a blender and force feed it to me; usually ended with me throwing up. Then if I threw up I’d get beaten for throwing up. Really envious of how many people in here are saying it’s abuse so they must’ve just had normal parents. Life is just really unfair I remember once having to sit at the table until bedtime – staring at the mashed potatoes I refused to eat. Fine with me. My imagination entertained me until bedtime. No worries. Mom was pissed I didn’t cry or make a scene. No mashed potatoes for me after that. Win/win! So I had some friends down the road when I was about 7 and I used to ply at their house. Their stepmom had this thing about cooking with the little accordion door to the kitchen locked. Which I thought was bizarre as fuck. And one night I had to stay over for dinner because my parents weren’t going to be home in time and asked if I could stay over there until they got home. I couldn’t finish my Mac and cheese and this woman would not let me leave the table or even go home until I finished. In my little kid brain I thought I would be there forever. I became very upset as my friends (her stepkids) were allowed to leave the table after finishing their food. And she was just hovering over me. I felt like I would never see my parents again. But my mom showed up and rescued me and this lady pulled the bowl of Mac and cheese from the table and put it in the sink like she hadn’t just been acting like a psycho bitch about eating the rest of it as my mom was thanking her for watching me. I’m sure I still looked like I was crying at that point because I had been. But this was hands down one of the most traumatic experiences I had as a kid and it messed me up with food for a few years afterwards. I was terrified of someone forcing me to eat my food like that again.
