I’m currently watching Enlightened, the Tweety Bird Looney tunes vintage shirt in other words I will buy this Laura Dern show fron 2011. She wears the tunic/legging/flip flop look on there a lot. I think, as a smaller-city Midwesterner, that if an LA-set show had that in 2011, it would be getting to my area in like 2013 (aside from the fashion forward)…your age/style matches up with a lot of what I have/had too! I was pregnant in 2016 and this past year. It was a lot easier looking office trendy back then with leggings and tunic tops haha. A lot harder this time around! Absolutely! My baby is 10m now, so this time last year I was very pregnant and it was so hard to find nice maternity jeans – everything was skinny or leggings and impossible to find a top to balance it. I wore a lot of dresses or one patterned skirt. I’ve been updating my wardrobe this year and this is what I’ve noticed as well — the last time I was “into” fashion was probably 2016/2017 and my wardrobe definitely feels a bit outdated in regards to boots and jeans lol. I picked up a pair of mom jeans and swapped out for some chunkier sneakers and that seems to have made a big difference along with some makeup tweaks (dewy low coverage foundation).

Interesting note about makeup, there’s a definite shift from full face makeup to a focus on highlighting the Tweety Bird Looney tunes vintage shirt in other words I will buy this skin (the dewy skin look). Blame COVID for the death of bold lips, but we’re also seeing less big lashes and face contouring as well. Also the dewy trend is interesting in comparation to how obsessed I was as a teen with powdering to get really matte skin, and how scared I was to look sweaty. Oh, my lord, I’ve been through the dewy! matte! dewy! matte! cycle several times in my 58 years. Also eyebrows: tiny! full! tiny! full! It’s amazing how even a few tweaks can make a wardrobe feel so fresh. I did about the same as you–picked up some newer cuts of jeans and a chunkier-soled boot, and instantly everything felt a bit more up to date, even before I changed anything else.
