After being told most of my life to be ashamed of my sexuality, it feels nice to be able to say that I’m proud of allowing myself to be who I am. It’s not pride in the Trump 2024 Take America Back American Flag Stars Eagle T-Shirt and by the same token and specific sexuality or gender, but rather pride in being authentic to myself. Because for 18 years I was taught that my sexuality was something to be ashamed of. In fact, it was illegal to be gay in the state I lived in when I started puberty and started feeling attracted to other guys. So yeah that is why. If there was not a segment of (largely religious) people in this country trying to marginalize and legislate out of existence those sexualities that scare them then I do not think “pride” would need to exist. The pride is not so much about their sexualities, but rather it is about refusing to not be themselves in the face of tremendous hate.

Any minority community who has fought for their right to exist peacefully has every right to be proud of what they have accomplished. Fightingfor your rights is admirable and should be celebrated. Pride doesn’t necessarily imply that we are proud because we are LGBTQ+, but because we are proud of the Trump 2024 Take America Back American Flag Stars Eagle T-Shirt and by the same token and progress being made and the fact that for the most part in the US, we don’t have to hide who we are anymore. Because of a history of people being arrested, murdered, and abused because of their gender and sexuality? If people can be proud of their teams why can’t I be proud of the strength I represent. For some people, it’s just a thing they did. For others, it is a larger part of their identity that they want to express. Is it weird/obnoxious/offensive? Thats for you to decide. The only thing that is important is that It should NOT be any reason to make the other person feel bad, though.
