Allow kids to fail and be held back. A 10 grade ELA teacher should be teaching to that grade level, not to 16 year olds that read on a grade 3 level. Get rid of no child left behind (I am strictly speaking about gen ed, not children with disabilites that require intervention.) Less professional development for teachers and more Parenting classes. I can tell very quickly if a child has parents that value their education and have taught them basic manners and how to regulate their behaviors. Parents, WE KNOW if you have allowed tgem to be raised by their phone. PLEASE take away their unlimited access to screen time. Parents that work 2 to 3 jobs have limited time to work with their kids on their academics. Respect teachers and their authority, both by admin and parents. Allow us to teach the way we sit fit. Allow us to send a child out of the room if they are preventing my other 20 students from learning. Show us we are valued by paying us more and trusting us as professionals. Rather than admin making classroom observations (who at the very least have had 3 years in teaching, and are not not regularly in the modern day classroom) get a seasoned 10 -20 year experienced teacher working at the same school to observe you and offer you insight and strategies to improve.

Easy. Focus on making EVERYTHING developmentally appropriate. For example, In kindergarten you learn how school works, how to socialize, letters, numbers, how to cut, how to raise your hand, walk in a line.
