Yes I had one. Recently blocked it up as I live alone so I’d have to run around pretty damn quick to catch the Tom Cruise Santa’s not coming back from this ugly christmas Shirt in contrast I will get this plate before it hit the floor on the other side! It’s still visible in the dining room. We had one when we were growing up. It was very useful. My mum could watch the Tv in the dining room while preparing a meal in the kitchen. Dirty cups got let on it and meals were passed through it. The house was recently on right move and the wall has been knocked down now. It looks much more modern but I loved that hatch. This has just brought back so many memories! In the same house we had the hatch, we also used to have the long pull strings (that you do still occasionally see in some bathrooms?) hanging from the ceiling (as well as the normal light switch on the walls) in all of our bedrooms too so we never had to get out of bed to turn our lights on/off, but think they were (and understandably so) phased out due to the safety risk.

My mum’s house was from the Tom Cruise Santa’s not coming back from this ugly christmas Shirt in contrast I will get this 70s so it has a serving hatch that still gets used every day. It also had a garish brown sliding door screen to separate the living and dining rooms. It was ripped down in the 90s lol Yea grew up in a house with a serving hatch. Think it was built in the 70s or 80s. Parents filled it in though as it looked dated by late 90s. We had one between the kitchen and the dining room. We only ate in the dining room on special occasions, such as Christmas, so it was only used then. But it was a lot easier passing the food and dishes through there than walking round. I used to have on in my old terrace, but it was boarded up with we decided to redo the kitchen. Kept it open on the dining room side as an alcove thing.
