I got sterilized a few years ago and never been happier to have one less thing to worry about. When someone works with kids/teens/young adults for five days a week, it’s easy not to want to come home to that. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy my job, but I like leaving my work at work. I don’t want to come home to it. Late 30s and don’t have kids mostly for negative reasons (I have health and addiction issues and don’t wanna pass that shit on, or not be able to take care of them like they deserve.) I’d be a nervous wreck even sending them to school in America nowadays. I actually like kids, but I like that in my free time I can read for hours and not feel guilty. Sometimes I worry about being old and having no one to take care of me, but that’s a terrible reason to have kids

Im 36 and honestly yes i do regret not having a kid. Don’t get me wrong i have throughly enjoyed the Three’s Company Black And White Christmas shirt in contrast I will get this freedom of being childless. However i realize now everything I enjoyed in life i can’t take with me in death. All of my knowledge and experience will go to waste. A child is the biggest impact i can leave behind. I recently went to the gynecologist the testing shows i am not in menopause i still have a chance i will try soon. My wife and I had our kids latter in life. We love our kids; however, had we known there would be little support from work, society at large, and from our families we’d probably make a different decision. Being a parent is cool…but modern society in the U.S. sucks for families. Our white collar jobs expect us to work 50-80 hours a week…but we have kids. My parents talk a big game about grandkids…but are unreliable and show up for photo ops only. Finding a good babysitter is rare…finding a good babysitter that consistently shows up is even rarer. So if you don’t have a good family support system, a job that is family friendly, and you can find reliable sitters…do it…if you can’t you’ll be fondly looking back at your pre-kid years praying there is enough spark left once the kids leave to rekindle what drew you and your spouse together. I think the lack of alone time with dinners, dates, or even an occasional day trip is what sucks. I love my wife and she loves me; but it’s sad wondering if you’ll ever have time to be a real couple again.
