Something I noticed would be how there isn’t a phrase for wishing someone to have a pleasant meal when they tell you they are about to eat or that they are eating. We say ‘poftă bună’ which I think it’s the This Is My Team Forever Buffalo Bills Mascot Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this equivalent of the French ‘bon appétit’. When my coworkers go for lunch I would say stuff like ‘enjoy your meal’ and often they would look funny at me and be like ‘Um ok, thanks I guess’ thinking I’m sarcastic when I’m not. Amusingly, that’s exactly what ‘bon appétit’ is for in French: it’s from someone not eating with you, encouraging you to eat — i.e. the waiter. You aren’t supposed to say it if you are sharing the meal. That’s exactly the type of phrase OP is looking for- a phrase to tell someone to have a pleasant meal when you arent sharing it with them that is well received and not taken as sarcasm Really? Thanks, I learned something new! In Italy we say “buon appetito” as a way to allow all the people at the table to start a shared meal. Actually nowadays I hear it rarely, but when I was a child it was common

Dutch living in the This Is My Team Forever Buffalo Bills Mascot Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this US; same problem. It always feel so empty to just start eating without wishing everyone a tasty meal. I’m a server and I always say “Enjoy!” when I have delivered a meal and make sure they have everything they need. One of my English teachers in Sweden had an English (or American?) husband. They spoke English to each other, but added the word “orka” from Swedish, meaning “to have the strength or energy for something”. It can be used when talking about physical strength or endurance: “Can you help me with the bag, I don’t orka carry it?” – but more often, it’s used in contexts where English speakers would say they “can’t be arsed/bothered to do something” (even if the Swedish word doesn’t imply that the task is unimportant, just that you lack the energy for it): “I don’t orka do my taxes tonight”.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
