I don’t want to kill anybody, and I think I’d puke if I ever broke somebody’s bone or stabbed them. I know I know I know… There’s no evidence to support this, but my gut has always told me that our constant exposure to violence (movies, shows, news, video games, podcasts…it’s everywhere) is bad for us. I feel like it desensitizes us to it and subconsciously makes us expect it as a normal part of life.

I know gut feelings and anecdotes are no basis for claiming facts or changing policies but…just saying how I feel. Right but I’m saying we would be even further away from that if we didn’t normalize and romanticize violence everywhere. They lack cognitive empathy not emotional empathy. People with antisocial traits lack emotional empathy but have lots of cognitive empathy that they can use to manipulate people. Cognitive empathy: the awareness of what’s going on in someone’s head and the ability to read other people.
