I haven’t found it to be very realistic in my life (scheduling things is difficult with varied schedules and everyone keeps moving away!) My boyfriend has a group of friends similar to that though. While it is possible to have satisfying, long-lasting friendship with someone, with group with becomes much more difficult. Can you have a friend group like that short term? Yes. At worst they break up, and at best they kind of drift apart, and it is not a close friendship anymore. Had a great group that met one night every week for drinks. Planned annual ski trips together, summer parties, etc. Slowly started drifting apart as SOs and starting a family became the focus for many. See them maybe once every 2 years. But, then I have moved around a lot for work, so that was part of it as well. But, it seemed the couples started doing things together mainly and those of us that were single were left out of a lot of activities. I’m still friends with my favorites from the close knit group in my 20s. Some have moved away, some just moved on. The core of us are still friends, still do things together, etc. None of us have the free time we had back then, so coffee and bars every day aren’t a thing anymore, but that was what my 20s were like.
