What gets me is of all the There’s This Welder who Stole My Heart last name flower shirt but in fact I love this hundreds of ways they’re actually being screwed over by the government, this is the hill they die on? Dumbasses the lot of them and all the twats on social media who applaud them one minute then spit feathers the next when JSO protest against something that’s unbelievable important to us all. Me personally, I don’t care. ULEZ doesn’t effect me as I already drive a hybrid and my work truck has AdBlue. However I know people that it does effect and they are seriously unhappy about it. There’s people that are really struggling with money due to inflation and interest rate hikes and now they are faced with “buy a different car” or pay another tax everytime you need to go anywhere. Yes. Yours is the only comment that seems to remember the past 3 years has been rough as fuck for a lot of people. I wrote this reply below for another comment but I think it works here, too.

Why does no one on this thread seem to comprehend that applying a stealth tax… sorry “levy” of £12 A DAY does fuck all to stop the There’s This Welder who Stole My Heart last name flower shirt but in fact I love this people who drive v8s and punishes working people, who have already suffered as a result of COVID, energy crises and inflationary pressures? How do these people expect someone to buy a newer, less polluting car given the context above if ULEZ wipes out any savings that might be able to put towards that goal? All that being said, I’m not totally against the idea, but this implementation is worse than dogshit. Why not create a tiered system where older, more polluting cars pay more first? Or that all newly purchased (likely leased) cars must meet a minimum standard? But nah, forget all that. Just get behind the idea because it’s “for the environment” right? (And not to fund the TfL?) If you disagree you’re a “gammon” and obviously too stupid to understand the government always makes the best decisions for you /s.
