I only had one friend who wore makeup regularly like I did. I wish I could just be a barefaced girl and rock it but every time I do, people tell me I look tired or ask if I’m not feeling well 🙁 It’s weird this came on my feed because I was out with a bunch of moms the other day and as I’m sitting there I’m starting to notice that all 5 of them have nothing on their faces. No foundation no blush no mascara. And I’m like wtf? Is this a new norm for this period in time? I have splotchy acne prone skin and blonde eyelashes so I look like a ghost without mascara and my complexion sucks without a little cover up. So for me I feel like I need it and can’t imagine going without it. So don’t feel jealous if it’s your thing and makes you feel confident. Do it. It might take a few time hanging out but they will get use to you with out your make up. You will get use to you with no make up. Remember they love you for you. They don’t hangout with you because of the way you look they hang out with you because they like hanging out with you. Maybe have a girls day and let them know you want to try a more natural look with no make up. If the problem is you don’t like your skin looks without it maybe ask them what their skin routine is.

I used to be similarly bugged by women who didn’t wear makeup, so I started wearing it less. It turns out no one cares, especially if they first meet you without makeup. I used to get comments where people would think I had partied the night before if I didn’t wear makeup, but that’s because I was wearing it daily. Once I didn’t wear it daily, those comments went away, and instead I got praise when I did wear makeup. Now I just do what I want. If I feel like wearing makeup, I do, but if I don’t, it does not at all matter. If I want to feel polished I’ll throw on some jewelry but today for example I’m rocking a bun & no makeup & I don’t care. Nor does anyone else. The last time I got asked out I was rocking glasses & no makeup – it literally does not matter. And I have rosacea/acne scars, dark under eye circles, etc., but we all notice our “flaws” far far more than other people do. I have no idea why this post was recommended to me, since I have never been on this sub. I stopped using makeup before my oldest was born 7 years ago. It was tied up in abuse that I had experienced as a kid and I wanted to be free of it. Now that the years have passed I would love to get back into makeup, but feel very intimidated since my skills are very dated. I also don’t care enough to put in the time, but I recognize and enjoy the skill and, frequently, artwork displayed when my friends put on a face of makeup. So if it’s something you like and that makes you feel more comfortable, your friends probably think you’re awesome looking however you want.
