Just get everything in writing. Take new billet with same pay for X amount of time or conditions met and then receive “specific amount of pay” after said time or conditions met. Companies/managers that treat their reports like shit are generally going to treat you like shit too. The fact of the matter is the CIO still owns your employment so if you leave now, you’ll have the work on your resume you’ve already done but if you leave after doing this job for a few months you’ll have additional responsibility on your resume and whatever you’ve been doing previously. I want good people to be in positions of power so if you can climb ranks so that others don’t have to suffer a shitty boss, I think its worth the sacrifice to your soul or work life balance. And, yeah, your bank accounts will be healthier in the long run too.
