My mother was converted by Mormon missionaries when she invited them into her house in the The Mummy More Like The Daddy T-Shirt Besides,I will do this early 1960s. Her husband, my uncle, was away often with work and didn’t always treat her great, he died when her kids were between the ages of 6 and 16. She didn’t really have any friends and suffered from anxiety or depression. The Jehova Witnesses were some of the only folks to come by and visit her in the day. She made friends and converted. None of her children agreed with her conversion, and all stayed away from it. Although I should note that her youngest became a Flat Earther and even though he dodged the Jehovas it feels like another cult got him.

I know there have been. My father was a Mormon and spent two years on his mission in Ecuador. He actually was pretty successful at it. Thank god he left. My whole family is Mormon, both parents and most of my uncles and now some of my cousins went on missions. All of them whose missions I heard about have conversion stories. My mom (Christian) and I (Atheist) are Japanese, so we started discussing in front ot the two clearly Caucasian guys in Japanese that we’re both well off, and then one of them starts speaking in nearly impeccable Japanese to us. Ultimately, we turned it down, but it was pretty eye-opening for us that someone who’s obviously not Japanese speak our language with almost no discernible foreign accent and grammatical errors. Also, I was raised in a monotheistic (Christian) hosuehold, and I never drank coffee and alcohol (I just didn’t like their tastes) or smoked (hated the smell), so my friends often joked that I’m a Mormon.
