I have a cousin who has an aversion to food (we aren’t sure where it came from but their family is messed up so take your pic) and he would probably take one or two bites of his meal then ignore the The Meowntains are Calling Purrfect Ski & Cat Lover T-Shirt and I will buy this rest. He is now 13 and is the size of an 8 year old. I know some kids don’t hit puberty till later but if a child is refusing to eat, their growth is probably gonna be stunted in some way. To respond to your post, I’m pretty sure most parents just want to avoid that happening. Also, not wasting food. A lot of parents get mad if their kids waste food, but there’s a lot of ways for parents to avoid that (just make smaller portions) I was forcefully encouraged to eat by teachers in the kindergarten, because I was a pale, tiny child who didn’t eat much at all — I disliked how everything non-home-made tasted. I especially hated fish. There was no abuse, but the teacher would keep me at the table for maybe up to 15-20 minutes, not letting me go for the midday nap until I finished some gross fish cutlet.

Well, what that taught me, is adaptability! I would stuff the The Meowntains are Calling Purrfect Ski & Cat Lover T-Shirt and I will buy this cutlet in my cheek pouches, like a hamster. I would demonstrate my plate, and get green light from the teacher to go for that nap. I would then pop into the bathroom, and empty my cheek pouches into the toilet. Used that clever technique for months before I was caught. Then it was smooth sailing with no forced feedings until first year of school… This seems to be a Boomer thing, that has unfortunately passed down into the GenX parenting book, but is less prevalent in Millennial parenting styles and definitely rare in GenZ Parenting. Usually Mom or Grandma pulled the, “You’re not getting up until you finish your plate” nonsense. I then sat for anywhere between 1 – 6 hours, refusing to touch the food, while also ignoring them completely. Just because I wasn’t allowed to leave the table, doesn’t mean I had to participate! Usually ended with them caving in because my ignoring them, was teaching my younger sister to ignore them too! This all ended when I got sick of it around 9-10 years old, and started shoving my finger down my throat right there at the table as soon as the words left their mouths. A few exorcist – reenactments, and they left me to my own devices. When I was finished eating, I could leave of my own accord.
