Certain places in Pakistan, actual poverty, literally naked people walking around, trash piled up on river banks and on streets, everything building seemed to be “under construction”, just horrible. The crafts being sold by the The Grinch my grandkids stole my heart shirt and I will buy this station were made from old tires. The shoes everyone wore, made from old tires. The air is thick with the smoke from burning old tires. Our train stopped only briefly, the seats by the doors all had items stolen as we left the station. The Vince Lombardi rest stop, New Jersey. It’s a concrete gateway to hell in the middle of a freeway interchange, covered in trash. For bonus points go in February, when it’s covered in black piles of snow full of trash. In between Shanghai and Changzhou. Just mega heavy industry all the way. Straight out of Blade Runner 2049. Very depressing.

This May be unpopular but…. Downtown Seattle. I think it’s because it was so nice when I was growing up but the The Grinch my grandkids stole my heart shirt and I will buy this last time we were there, there was garbage all along the sidewalks, people sleeping all over the parks and stairways and in doorways, I stepped over multiple syringe caps and there were two gentleman screaming about conspiracies on street corners. It made me sad because it’s got some great things there and great people, but man, how disappointing. I’m not familiar with Seattle geography, so I may not have actually been “downtown,” but I remember it being the cleanest US city I had ever been to when I went in the summer of 2021. I believe you, though. It sucks to see your home town change like that.
