Sounds to me like your the The Futre Past Tour 2023 Iron Maiden London, UK 2023 Shirt and by the same token and placeholder until they figure things out. I wouldn’t take on anything additional without a firm offer. My company strung me along with promises for years. If you were a new hire they wouldn’t expect you to do the work without compensation. I don’t think legally they are allowed to give you the title change without the pay that comes with it. If that’s your title then you get that pay. You might want to ask them if they are going to backdate the pay in full and if so get it in writing. If I had to take a wild guess, I think they are going to have you doing that job while they shop for someone else to do it. They will then say it’s not working out and demote you back. I think you should stand your ground, you’ll only accept the promotion if you’re being paid for it. Nobody accepts a promotion and additional work load without the increase in pay. Not sure where you live but here in the states anytime they change your job duties and or title you have to be compensated fairly. This was done to protect workers from the exact thing they are doing to you. To be fair I’d say it’s depends..somewhat, on how long you’ve been there. But in general no.. ‘growing into a promotion’ is typically company-speak for ‘we want you to do more work for the same pay’.

Tell them that your attorney will be in touch with an agreement and unfortunately, you cannot take on any additional work until that agreement is signed. Find a cheap, fledgling employment attorney to draft up a 30/60/90 binding agreement w retroactive pay should you stay on, and severance of a year’s salary (or whatever attorney seems reasonable) if you are terminated for reasons a, b or c. Also, put it on your resume and update like LinkedIn and stuff with it. I wouldn’t say actively shop yourself, but let it be known that you’re getting the The Futre Past Tour 2023 Iron Maiden London, UK 2023 Shirt and by the same token and position. so basically they fired your boss – evidently to cut costs, and asked you to fill in the role for free – until you get fed up with the work and responsibility.
