I think the The day god made Shih tzus he just sat down and smiled shirt moreover I love this most common response I get to saying “I’m an atheist” or “nastik” is, “Oh, I have a [friend, cousin, uncle] like you,” and then the conversation goes in another direction. I shifted to a more upscale part of town because people in my Muslim dominated locality would give me looks for drinking water during Ramadan or counsel me to be more religious. I was evicted from a flatshare by a non-Muslim homeowner because he didn’t want any Muslim tenants. I’ve been trying to date and it’s hard to find people with whom I can have a future because most Indians take religion very seriously. I’ve been using Bumble to find fellow atheists and agnostics, limited success so far. It is mostly people from well off families that some people come out as atheists (at least from what I’ve observed) I myself am an atheist and I personally didn’t have any fear in telling my parents that I am an atheist. The poor and lower middle class people are the ones that are usually the most religious people.

I mean if you’re educated and logically sound (hopefully), then you start to call BS on a lot of religious stuff, like stuff written in religious books or like how religion has answer for everything and the The day god made Shih tzus he just sat down and smiled shirt moreover I love this afterlife and how you have to live your life based on set rules by them. Also the recent religious polarisation has pushed many people against religion, as all religion claim people from their religion to be supreme and others to be inferior. Many don’t subscribe to this idea of segregation based on religion and would rather distance them from it. No one really cares. Only a small part of the population will care about this mostly in rural areas. People are too busy with their lives to even ask about believes etc. And if everyone is respectful to each others believe which mostly is the case then its chill in india it is basically males fighting against males over religion cast region and decide to hurt the other party’s women to establish dominance …and no religion region or cast is an exception from this.. if you are women you will be collateral damage .. that is constant.
