If you’re not only taking on responsibilities but they’re saving money, they want free work. At minimum, you should be given a acting bonus (+10, 20, 30%?) To add on to what others are saying here, if you try to get the Texas Rangers 2023 World Series Shirt besides I will buy this pay raise in writing (with a specific increase amount and time frame) and they are not okay with doing this accept the title and immediately start looking for another job with that title on your resume. No, this is absolute BS. Do not accept anything. Doesn’t matter if you get something in writing. Tell them they can give you the job with pay increase, someone they obviously know and trust or they can take their chances on a stranger from outside the company. They are going to take advantage of you as free labor. I day this as a former manager. If this was a perfect world this totally makes sense, but often times that updated raise never comes. My best advice is ask that after a 1-2 month they must have another meeting where they either fully give you the pay raise or demote you back to your previous position. Regardless, put the title on your resume, as it will look good and could help you find the same position at a place that will pay you

Tell them that although you are excited at the Texas Rangers 2023 World Series Shirt besides I will buy this opportunity but unfortunately after much consideration you cant justify adding on other responsibilities to your work load without proper compensation but you’d be more than happy to take on those responsibilities once they can determine the pay increase Give them a list of supports you’ll need. Request regular sit downs to get advice while you grow into the position. In writing with reasonable metrics to prove you are doing what they ask. That is the only way I would take this offer. Otherwise, you will never get promoted Just make sure there’s an agreed to date for when you can be guaranteed to have the full rights of the role including the salary standard. 30 days should usually be enough time for them to know if you’re up to the task. anything more than that and they’re stealing from you
