We’re still lucky to be working from home at my company. We have 1 office day a week which is a fair compromise. I live next to Heathrow, so I do miss no planes. Also, it felt like a really long summer, despite being horribly sick with COVID, that took 7 months to recover from, my family and I made the Texas Longhorns Football 2023 It’s In My DNA shirt it is in the first place but most of it. We had the swimming pool up by late April, kids had camp outs in the garden, regular BBQs too. Overall, we had a great time Driving to work being the only person on the road. Was nice to actually achieve the speed limit, my journey time was half of what it usually was. Lockdown was difficult for lots of people in lots of different ways, but I miss the “togetherness” and simplicity of it. We went from seeing eachother a handful of times a year to making an active effort to check up on eachother and communicate. Silly things like D&D sessions and quizzes over Zoom, video calling people (which I never did usually), and knowing that you were all going through the Texas Longhorns Football 2023 It’s In My DNA shirt it is in the first place but same thing and dealing with the same bullshit. Now, everybody is back to their own lives, their own problems, things have sped up and the hamster wheels are in full motion again. I enjoyed the slower pace of life during lockdown. The simplicity of it. I would never want it to be permanent, but I found it oddly refreshing. It also woke me up to the utter bullshittery of the nine-to-five grind and the time wasted on commuting and small talk. I work from home now, and I’ll never work in an office again. Supermarkets being quietband social distancing. It was nice not to have someone practically on my shoulders when queing.
