The sound design was incredible, especially in the Take A Hike Snoopy Shirt and by the same token and first hour. The pouring rain, the subtle breaths, etc. created such a great atmosphere. Shady mayor Thomas and pyscho Arkham resident Martha were an interesting choice for the backstory and I thought it really worked in this movie’s favour. Loved all the connections to Falcone too and how they towed the line and made them bad without sacrificing the good parts of their characters. VERY excited to see Riddler and Joker work together in the future Riddler’s costume didn’t work for me at all. It just made him feel like a generic serial killer rather than a cunning super-villain. Paul Dano was incredible in his scenes with the mask off and I don’t know why you’d cover that up. Those scenes would have been 1000x better done maskless. I feel like the classic green jacket/top hat would’ve also worked well here as a contrast to Riddler’s terrifying personality/actions as well as a great parallel to Batman’s theatrics in this movie. Hopefully some time with Joker will give this Riddler a more theatrical flair…..

Jerffery Wright’s Gordon was great but I wish we got a little more info as to WHY this version of Gordon risks so much for Batman. All the Take A Hike Snoopy Shirt and by the same token and info we really got is they’ve been working together for 2 years and Gordon will risk his life for him. Was hoping for a more gothic, Tim Burton-esque Gotham City. Definitely beats Nolan’s ‘normal city’ though. The Lazarus water or Bane Venom or whatever reviving Batman felt a little lazy, especially since it was never brought up before or explained after. I get what they tried to do with ‘Bruce Wayne’ having the same personality as Batman but it didn’t work for me. Bruce Wayne isn’t a sociopath, he’s never been scared to show emotions outside of his personas. Plus, he was kind of a dick to Alfred through-out the movie.
