My wife is from Mexico and therefore “Mexican.” I cannot tell you the Swing Your Sword Skeleton Dancing T-Shirt besides I will buy this number of times that I say, ‘my wife is Mexican” and I get some sort of type of non-verbal reaction equivalent to ‘how can you say that!?” The negative assumptions are so bad that literally calling her by her nationality makes others think that I am the one directing prejudice. My biological father and his family in the US keep posting crap about the Mexicans. I hate how they talk about them. And it’s only Mexicans. Then again, any monolingual American can die mad about the Spanish language in the USA: the USA is the world’s 2nd largest Spanish speaking country (overall, counting bilingual folks and heritage speakers). Spanish has been in the USA far longer than English (barring American languages), and there are several unique dialects and registries to the USA. Oh absolutely, those “in America we speak american” types make my eyes roll. I’m from northern Ireland, and we have a similar problem in that certain prejudiced political groups attack the Irish Gaelic language being spoken. Edit: why the downvote?

I’m from northern Ireland, and we have a similar problem in that certain prejudiced political groups attack the Swing Your Sword Skeleton Dancing T-Shirt besides I will buy this Irish Gaelic language being spoken. Started renting a house on a street in England, the realtor said “Well, bunch of Pakistani people here, I’m sure you’ll be fine they keep to themselves”… well that didn’t fill us with any confidence. First night there’s a knock at the door and it’s my new neighbor. He notes we have no furniture, we said well we’re waiting for our first pay to go buy some. He said that won’t do, give me a minute. 15 minutes later he and some friends show up with a couch, chairs, beds and a table. Totally dismisses any question of us paying for his generosity. Within a week I’d pretty much been introduced to everyone. The 3 years I was there they completely accepted us as neighbors, helped us out with stuff whenever asked and in the evenings they were always sat outside. Felt like I was part of a real community, something very rare these days. Leave your prejudices aside when confronted with a culture different to your own, you may find they’re not so different to you after all. There’s no such thing as a Abrahamic sin in Hinduism. Sure there’s some no-nos that would get frowned on, but all your good and bad deeds are equally judged on death to determine what you get reborn as. It’s a double-edged sword in that you don’t have to worry about being punished for gambling, being a bum, cheating, etc, but at the same time you can’t just go into a booth and be absolved of your errors – they stick to your soul until rebirth, and the only way to alleviate it is to do a lot of good in your life. In theory you could be the biggest dickward in the world but if you saved the human race, you get a pass.
