Another fact- I can’t find it now, but I did hear others in NPR discuss a research project which interviewed over 1,000 adult transgender people. When asked what age they knew they were presenting as the Suck It, England George Washington Sunglasses American Flag T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this wrong gender – 7 was the average. Many as young as 5!!! Gender dysphoria is not new – as many believe. There are many indigenous cultures around the world that recognize some individuals with male/female characteristics and even has words in their vocabulary – often revered or treated as spiritual beings. There was a hospital in Europe (Austria I think) that studied gender dysphoria as early as the late 1800s and even provided gender transition surgery. This hospital and all of their data/research was destroyed during WWII by Nazi forces.

I think many believe this is a new phenomena or fad “going all around” to quote you. But the Suck It, England George Washington Sunglasses American Flag T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this truth is – gender dysphoria or being transgender is just like anything else such as born with big eyes, a cleft palate, tall, red head etc. It is just now many are finding their voices and expressing their true self to the public for the first time. Just as when coming out of the closet as gay became “a thing’ in the 80s. When I was a child – if an adult was found out to be gay, they could be fired from a job. But then it became acceptable, and even we saw gay characters on TV for the first time! (it was still a HUGE scandal). It isn’t new – it is just becoming safe (safer) to show one’s true self in America (some states anyway).
