EDIT: I will add: the Stupid Is As Stupid Does Vintage T-Shirt Also,I will get this fact that you have access to everyone’s emails is a huge red flag that this is an organization that you should not be working for. I realize it is a small office, but yikes! That just screams “major disaster waiting to happen.” I work CS for Indeed, I bet if you leave your boss will be calling in and complaining about how nobody wants to work anymore. I look forward to that 40 minute call… Employers call Indeed because no one wants their shitty job?? That’s like calling reddit and complaining that you’re not getting upvotes Walk into work on Monday and tell your boss you are applying for the job that you saw on the Internet at $20 an hour. Are they hiring a counterpart to work with you or they hiring someone to replace you? Either way you should’ve been notified especially if it’s somebody work with you and you should be brought up to the same pay. If it’s to replace you, I would let them know that you’re insulted give them notice very short notice if at all. Mention both the Ad and the pay increase in the ad. It is counterproductive for the company to hire and train another employee to do what the existing employee already does for a higher wage unless 1) they need that role to be expanded and they don’t believe the existing employee can meet those requirements even with training, or 2) they have issues with the existing employee and just want a replacement asap. Probably trying to avoid giving benefits to a full time employee. Lots of companies have adopted this strategy. If they have twice as many employees but they’re all part time they can skip offering any benefits. It’s really shitty.

Since you’re being replaced and your boss doesn’t appear to appreciate your real life situation, do only the Stupid Is As Stupid Does Vintage T-Shirt Also,I will get this minimum at work as dictated by your contract. Don’t go above and beyond, don’t put in overtime. That includes training your replacement if they ask you to do that: you can either just not put effort in it at all, or outright refuse if your contract allows it by feigning ignorance that you’re being replaced, saying something like “I’m sorry but my contract didn’t mention training or managing new staff. Am I being promoted to a manager role?” Gather evidence you may need for unemployment. Save the job listing they posted, save any relevant emails (the more the better there really). If they ask you to train your replacement, confirm it with them via email. You want everything in writing if possible, including the stuff from 1 about your replacement. They can’t say they fired you with cause if they’re asking you to train the new guy.
