Conservatives know they have a good wedge issue here: They assert that a very rare thing is running rampant, and that they are the Stop the trans genocide trans lives matter blood T-Shirt in other words I will buy this “voice of reason” trying to stop it. Liberals take the bait, offering knee-jerk defenses of this incredibly rare thing very few people have any expertise in. They play into conservatives’ hands by making themselves seem like this is what they spend all their time thinking about. The only surgery trans minors can get is ftm top surgery, but even that is extremely rare and happens most often in cases of extreme dysphoria. Any conservative who says doctors are performing genital mutilation of kids or whatever is objectively false, and they often know the extent of how much they are false. They are performing outrage culture to drum up more votes or dollars or popularity. Lots and lots of people know themselves from a young age. I knew from when I was a kid I didn’t identify with the body I was born in and would call myself a boy. I’m ok with being in a woman’s body and get dysphoria. I’d never get a sec change cos surgeries freak me out. I can barely get needles but I’d like to become more enby by taking a bit of T.
