We didn’t even struggle financially when my dad and grandmother died. My mom was forced to retire in her 50’s due to disability, and still manages to get by okay thanks to her pension and social security. My sister lives with her and helps with the bills with her own nursing job, but I worry how well she’ll get by on her own when our mom inevitably passes, and that feels tremendously unfair. My mom cut hair at jcpennys and my dad worked on refrigerators for the air force and they have a 2500sq foot home on two acres that they bout for $80k 30 years ago. They go a cruise every year, drive cars that are less than 3 years old and have tons of money in the bank. They u understand inflation and admit they got lucky with wages and inflation
