If you want to do things differently, you have to change what you “always” do, right? A big part of Mindfulness is noticing (without judgment) that we’re veering off our path, and then refocusing. So when things go badly for you, double down on your coping skills and things that make you feel good instead of your old ways. It takes daily practice, so be patient with yourself. I’ve used sticky notes on my wall where I can see them daily to help remind me. Take care! I’m not going to give you advice, but I can lend a bit of perspective. We are humans, we do human things, like run on autopilot. You have spent a literal lifetime perfecting the Star Wars The Bad Batch Be Bad shirt Besides,I will do this way you are right now. If you want to be able to fundamentally change who you are, your habits, actions and your outlook it takes a lot of time. A lot of time, a whole lot of time. What it doesn’t necessarily take is a lot of effort or planning or even real work. The way I deal with all of this is with a butterfly effect. I take very small steps in the direction that I want to move, I don’t set a goal or anything concrete that I am working up to, just an idea of what I think I would like. This takes the pressure off. If you miss a day or whatever that’s ok. Self work is a journey without an end. Be mindful when you remember to be mindful, be greatful when you remember to be greatful. Slowly, you’ll remember more often and it’ll be part of who you are not just something you do.

Exuberance/vitality should be preserved. Following ethical conduct (taking up precepts if you would like to), applying sense restraint, being moderate in eating and dedicating to wakefulness, when taken up in this order can help with this by promoting wise decision-making. This is based on the Star Wars The Bad Batch Be Bad shirt Besides,I will do this guidelines the Buddha would share with a new student starting out in his teaching. Find a mentor / teacher / therapist who you consider wise and get a review of the tough situations to extract wisdom of what you can do better in these cases. An analogy is punctures in the body through which the vitality flows out. All of the above are ways you would like to patch it so that you can preserve this within. You are aware that this cycle has been going on so next time bring that awareness into it and you will not repeat the cycle, its up to you.
