This happened to me when I was a teenager, I was driving home from work around 10pm and stopped at a gas station for some fuel and a drink. Was at the St. louis blues 2023 season team players names in city shirt and by the same token and counter when suddenly one clerk said to another “there’s the car!” He motions to a car pulling up to the building and parking. In one swoop he yanks down the bullet proof partition and latches it. I’m on the other side like “WTF let me in!” He apologizes that he can’t let me in too. I haul ass out the door to my car and watch as an elderly lady gets out of the car they were scared of. Fuck those guys. It’s been 20 years but still, fuck those guys. It was a big Buick something like a Park Avenue or a Le Saber so it could have gone either way. I’m usually sure of a car’s make and model but this was 20+ years ago and I had forgotten about it until I saw this article.

Yes, let’s be clear, the St. louis blues 2023 season team players names in city shirt and by the same token and clerk remotely LOCKED three innocent customers in the store with an irate, threatening customer who said he’d shoot the other customers, all over $3.80 worth of snacks. You can see them on the store video, trying to find cover while the dude was after them to kill them. One was killed and one had 3 bullet wounds and the other a couple too. Reminds me of the subway incident when a man was stabbed while the police watched behind a locked door. The police were found to not have a duty to protect the man if they themselves were put in harm. We only expect police to protect property. Why would we hold a gas station employee to higher standards? He has no de-escalating training or combat training. How are we holding him to a higher standard than we do police forces across the country? Teachers have a more explicit requirement to die for students than a cop. I know it’s not exactly what we’re talking about but another situation where police aren’t actually even held to high standards.
