Do you know where to buy a 50lb sack of broken rice grains in the Space Noir Shirt in addition I really love this US? Probably not. But I bet you can name 5 places in walking distance of your house that sell everything you need for pho. It’s like thinking an American eats MacDonalds every day. Americans are more likely to have other dishes daily, but of course MD now and then. I find pho delicious but I wouldn’t put it on my top 5 favorite list, maybe top 10. It’s a nice comfort food that can hardly go wrong, that’s what make it popular. What most Vietnamese people would eat for a street meal is cơm bình dân. Plate of rice, pick a few things from trays of precooked food. A rice + 1 meat dish + 1 veg dish is 20-40k depends on where you live and what you order

Com binh dan is not a dish. It’s a lite version of a full course meal. Instead of eating a full course meal with rice and 2-3 side dishes ( 1 meatty dish, 1 soup, 1 veggie) they simplify it down to 1 big dish with a small bowl of soup. Broken rice in the Space Noir Shirt in addition I really love this other hand is a dish for it own. Pho lost its attraction in Saigon because too many people think they could charge you 40-50k for 4 paper thin slices of beef Bun is more popular than Pho. Rice is the most common thing that vietnamese people eat but I don’t really consider that a dish. I’m not sure if it’s true that phở is not the most popular. But if you see more hủ tíu or cơm tấm places, it’s probably because those type of food can be made cheaper. A typical bowl of Phở can be around 40k and up, while a hearthy dish of cơm (with veggies and soup) is around 30k or even lower.
