As long as you’re ordering something there should be no issue, I work in a restaurant, I also have been to Nice restaurants and only gotten water with my meal some servers will get annoyed if you ‘take up space’ when you’re done eating because ‘it takes away their tips’ usually if I am at a restaurant for a long period of time due to myself and not the wait for food I will tip a larger portion due to this especially if it were a busier day for the company, but you don’t have to do that, as long as you’re respectful there should be no issues. Yeah, as others have said just tip well and/or get some food. I’m not saying you’re wasting someone’s time by just ordering water, it’s their job and as long as you’re not annoying/they’re super busy with paying customers they probably don’t care I don’t drink alcohol, so I drink seltzer with lime or seltzer with bitters at bars. Bartenders will often comp those because they assume I’m a recovering alcoholic. I tip like they’re fancy cocktails and we’re both happy.

If you do they will keep an eye on your glass. When it gets empty they will just fill it for you. Yes, no one can force you to drink. Some venues/shows can have a “drink minimum” to guarantee a certain amount of business but you can just pay it and drink whatever. Any time I went to a bar and only drank soda or water I would tip a buck or two each time I got a drink. Then at the end of the night I would usually leave a fiver. That’s just me though. Nobody has ever had a problem with me drinking nonalcoholic drinks. Yes. If you taking up bar/table space order food though. If not, spending coins at the pool table works too. Don’t worry about tipping excessively as other will try and tell you. The wage issue for tip based workers is between them and the place of employment. People are just brainwashed to think it’s between customer and servers
