I usually tip a buck or two a drink. This would be fine for water, too. I would tip on the Paramedic that’s what i do save lives i drink and know things shirt and by the same token and higher end since you’re not spending on booze. I usually tip at least a dollar for each (easy) drink I get at a bar. For signature drinks and crazy mixes I’ll tip more. If I’m drinking water and the bartender is keeping my glass full, I just tip as I would for any other drink. The effort is still there regardless of what I’m drinking. The tip is really about showing my appreciation for a job well done. Enjoy yourself, and don’t ever think you need to drink anything but water! I don’t drink but if I go to a bar for a get-together I order soda or a tonic water splash of cranberry with lime. If I’m sitting at the bar I don’t take up a seat because bartenders rely on tips and they definitely make more on alcoholic drinks than soda so I’m sure not to take up a spot I’m in Australia and over here, you can get water, soft drink (soda), mocktails, non-alcoholic beer or wine or whatever you want at the bar (provided they have it). You don’t have to drink if you don’t want to.

You may get comments from people asking you why you’re not drinking though. If you tell them you’re driving, they’ll usually accept that answer. Yep. I just did that with my buddies at a bachelor party. Two bars we went to sent me to the Paramedic that’s what i do save lives i drink and know things shirt and by the same token and bathroom for more water after my first one though… I caught on quick that I have to buy something, whether it’s a drink for someone else, a soda, or a redbull. Thankfully didn’t die of caffeine overdose that night. I did get lucky that one bar had a water fountain I could use though and not actual bathroom tap water. Between that and being hit on by various drunk women all night, I’m very much all set not returning to a legit bar again anytime soon. If anything, it’ll be a sports bar like what you’re talking about where I can get food and have something to watch on tv.
