No. No minor is having surgery. Gender dysphoria is a potentially life threatening issue which is dealt with through therapy and puberty blockers and/or hormones. Hormones are reversible. People say that these are irreversible changes to their bodies but then praise transgender people who “detransitioned.” How do you think that happened either way? Hormones. Puberty blockers just give kids extra time to have therapy, make decisions, and slow down their changing bodies thus slow down the So Long Kindergarten Graduation First Grade Rainbow 2023 Unicorn T-Shirt in contrast I will get this potential dysphoria. Hormones and puberty blockers help them wait until they’re adults to make their own choices about any potential surgery. As for intersex people having nonconsensual surgery, that’s very rare these days. Most places it’s illegal now unless it’s deemed medically necessary. For instance, I was born without my uterus connected to the outside of my body. It was called a complete imperforate hymen. Normally it’s caught when a child is born and changed asap but we didn’t know until I was 15. I almost died because I started my period and got septic shock. I did not consent to surgery, was not aware I was actually female, was not consulted because I was unconscious, and was blamed for my anger and the issues my illness caused. I do support these surgeries. In addition, I support better education for everyone involved and more open communication about sex, gender, and intersex realities. I almost died because of the sheer lack of information and a desire to ignore very real medical needs of every day people.

These things, transgender kids, intersex kids, sex education, shouldn’t be a huge dramatic problem but they are and people die because we can’t be mature for the So Long Kindergarten Graduation First Grade Rainbow 2023 Unicorn T-Shirt in contrast I will get this next generation’s sake. The beginning of open communication and respect in sex education will be the end of dead kids. No. They can start the process though . I’m a therapist and I’m meeting with a 16 year old and have to approve moving forward in a couple years . He has a whole team of providers who have to approve the surgery . He currently is on HRT No. Unless it’s medically necessary, like they were born intersex. But generally, the only thing that is done for transgender teens are hormone treatments or hormone blockers. Hell, most ADULTS don’t have the surgery because it’s expensive. To add on another point: You can make the argument that some kids are pushed into the system by peers or parents in a kind of “munchausen syndrome by proxy” situation. There absolutely is this kind of thing happening. However it is vanishingly small and the amount of psychological and medical evaluation kids have to go through to even embark on this journey makes it very difficult for this method to cause irreparable harm to a child.
