I have this from my brother who is an electronics engineer who started his career working on the fly by wire for the Boeing 777, before working for a phone manufacturer as a senior engineer.

Just a few days ago there was a comment by a flight attendant who was on a flight where cell phone use messed up one of the Snoopy Woodstock Happy Valentine Music shirt also I will do this flight instruments. I was an avionics technician in the Navy. I have seen examples of a phone causing problems with avionics equipment. Yeah it is rare that it would be an issue, but why take that risk just so people can browse Facebook. Exactly. Any time I fly anywhere I switch off my phone before I get on the plane and enjoy the peace and quiet.
