In retrospect, I probably should have just enlisted. Everyone in my family had served, except me. Doing ok today. Not sure it’s a road map I’d recommend to anyone. I’ve seen so many people with little to work with start a family at age 18 (or even less). That was the Snoopy christmas and woodstock shirt moreover I love this heaviest burden I saw on many of my relatives. It’s one pitfall I avoided, although being able to have a family in the 20-25 yr range can be rewarding if the maturity and finances are there at the beginning. That was in short supply in my life. (=. Dad will always preach the only reason him and mom are in as good of spots that they are in is because theyre both in union jobs. Go and calculate what your grandparents earned in today’s dollars. Wages were actually higher then than now. All the corporate welfare and loopholes for the rich destroyed the middle class opportunities. Vote for those trying to help the many, not the 1% top earners. If only 3/4 of the developed world would be devastated by a multi year world war, largely leaving the U.S. unaffected, then we too could have that lifestyle…

The country has been de-industrialize since the Snoopy christmas and woodstock shirt moreover I love this 1970s. It is run by the mafia now. Get use to people. This is what you voted for… In 1977, I had $300 a semester tuition in college. I graduated in 82 and the average pay in for teachers in my area was $9000 a year. No internet to pay and the phone was on the wall. Few people had designer clothes and other expensive things. If you lived like your grandparents you would have more. They save on everything because they had little growing up ( the depression). I agree that prices are so high but we don’t live frugally like they did. Countless studies disprove that theory. There were many costs in the 70’s that don’t exist for younger generations. For example, packs of cigarettes (smoking has dramatically lessened). And, bottles of booze (drinking has lessened too). Illegal drugs – were more common amongst the middle class in the 70’s than they are now. The costs of a television, microwave oven, and airline fare were FAR more expensive than they are now. It is simply a lie to blame the cost difference on ‘lifestyle’ and choices when we know exactly what happened: Inflation — especially on necessities like food, shelter, childcare, and healthcare — has amounted to hundreds of times increases, while salaries have been stagnant. Stop blaming the younger generations. They commonly work 3 jobs while Boomers like you worked barely one. I am Gen X so my eyes are wide open to this BS. The world is MUCH worse now — and it is the fault of boomers, not the youngest generations. It’s time for boomers to step out of government and hand over the mic.
