My friend, much older than me and was a social worker. In the Snoopy and charlie brown xmas tree and house christmas shirt in contrast I will get this 60s, he bought a property. In Marin county. Needless to say, it was attainable, before unions were busted I came from poverty instead of the middle class, and let me tell you. My mom works her fucking ass off 6 or even 7 days a week sometimes. She had me as a teenager and she got her GED and put herself through beauty school, she’s doing what she loves. She works for a chain, has managed her salons for as long as I can even remember, has steady clientele that treat her (and even my daughter) like family. She was making the exact same an hour as I was making delivering car parts without any education or real skills. I had my own apartment at the time which technically cost like $100 more per month than her apartment she shares with her boyfriend, who works from home online. My mom can’t imagine a life that looks any different because she’s never seen anything different. My husband and I try to refocus our priorities on just trying to be happy because we know focusing on financial success is just not a reality for our situation, and it would only depress us more. I stay home to take care of my daughter (16mo) until she’s old enough for preschool, then I plan to get back to work. My husband has a monthly VA disability check that covers most of our bills, and he makes more per hour doing pretty much anything than my mom does at the salon she’s been running for about a decade.

I think a lot of people focus so much on what their parents were able to afford doing other things that they don’t realize WHY they can’t seem to make it work. I, however, was raised with nothing and I see how the Snoopy and charlie brown xmas tree and house christmas shirt in contrast I will get this system works, so I don’t fight it anymore. I spent so long trying to get out of it, because I didn’t want to play this game, run endlessly on the hamster wheel, just to realize I couldn’t escape. This system is not set up for people to ever become successful or ever pull themselves out of poverty, outliers notwithstanding of course. The amount of people under the line of poverty just gets bigger, and the gap between the classes becomes infinitely larger until it’s a gap almost insurmountable.
