I was making 80k as a network/cloud admin and just really wanted a pay increase, the Sleeps In A Cofin Emily The Strange Shirt What’s more,I will buy this other network admin I was working with left and I was the only network guy. Although I don’t mind the work and coworkers, I looked for a new job and decided I wanted to stay if they counter but also accepted the fact that I might have to take the new job and I was fine with that. Got a cloud engineering job for 105k, told my manager I’m putting my two weeks. PM called me within 5 mins and ask what will make me stay, I said I really just wanted more money and the offer was 118k. She asked if matching it will make me stay and I said yes. That’s that. Been a year since my increase and still pretty happy with it and have a better relationship with management.

Google. Lol cloud engineers make about 125-135k per google around DMV area and I know the Sleeps In A Cofin Emily The Strange Shirt What’s more,I will buy this 105k offer was low but a huge step from my 80k. Given my responsibility won’t change and although I do mess with AWS stuff in my day to day. It’s still mostly networking stuff so I didn’t think it was “fair” to ask that high. If they said no, I would have been happy to taking a new role. They didn’t really counter, but just matched it so I’m happy I said 118k. My husband did it over a year ago. No regrets so far. Only annoying thing is he is so far above HRs pay band for the role he’s not certain about getting a raise anytime soon. Offer was so attractive it wasn’t a big deal but I am wondering how long husband will put up with it.
